How to Make 4 Ingredient Cannabis Infused Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups (with Already Vaped Weed)
This is one of our favorite low cost edibles that only uses 4 ingredients. One ingredient is already vaped weed (AVW), which is what you have leftover after vaping cannabis. We love to use our Mighty and Volcano vaporizers to vape our homegrown cannabis, but it leaves us with a ton of AVW. We grow for our own consumption and try to produce all of the cannabis products that we consume, so we can get the most out of our buds. By making edibles with AVW, we are able to use up all of the cannabinoids in the buds, save money, and give ourselves options for how to consume.
What is already vaped weed?
Already vaped weed (AVW) is the leftover cannabis after you vape it. When you consume cannabis, you get the effects from the cannabinoids and terpenes in the buds, and vaping it leaves behind the weed that has been vaporized whereas smoking reduces the flower to ash. You will not get a full effect when you consume edibles made from AVW, but they still provide a nice high.
Ingredients
This recipe only has 4 simple ingredients that you likely already have in your cabinets.
Already vaped weed (AVW) - If you don’t have AVW, you can use fresh cannabis buds and decarb them in the oven, or a pressure cooker.
Coconut oil - This is our favorite option for edibles because it doesn’t have a strong flavor. If you don’t like coconut oil, olive oil or butter are great alternatives.
Chocolate Chips - We use semi-sweet, but you can use any kind of chocolate.
Peanut butter - We like peanut butter in the middle of our chocolates, but you can use any filling you like, such as caramel or jam.
Equipment Needed
Magical Butter Machine (or a Large Double Boiler Pot and Oven)
This machine makes the process of making your own edibles so easy. If you’re a home grower or you want to make your own edibles or infused products regularly, we highly recommend the Magical Butter Machine. It comes with all the tools that you need to infuse your own products and they have a ton of easy recipes, like the Magical Coconut Oil recipe we used for these chocolate peanut butter cups. You can also infuse oil using a double boiler pot if you don’t have a Magical Butter Machine.
Silicone Ice Cube Tray or Muffin Tins
Silicone ice cube trays work perfectly for these because they’re easy to dose and easy to remove from the trays. Silicone muffin tins would also work well for this if you want a more classic peanut butter cup shape.
Microwavable Safe Bowl
You will need a microwave safe bowl or mason jar to use when combining the infused coconut oil and chocolate chips.
Step by Step Instructions
1. Infuse the coconut oil
Follow the instructions from Magical Butter on how to make Magical Coconut Oil or follow a recipe for infusing coconut oil with a mason jar.
2. Melt chocolate and coconut oil
Melt the chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave in 15 second increments until smooth. Mix ½ cup chocolate chips with one tablespoon of infused coconut oil for 10 chocolate peanut butter cups.
3. Prepare chocolate layer
Use half of your melted chocolate mixture to cover the bottom of each ice cube cell. Spin the tray around to create sides for the peanut butter to stay in. After covering the sides and bottom of each cell, place the tray in the freezer for 5 minutes.
4. Add peanut butter filling
Add a small scoop of peanut butter or your desired filling and tap the tray against the counter to flatten the filling in each cell.
5. Top and freeze
Use the remaining chocolate and infused coconut oil mixture to top each cell in the tray. Freeze for a few hours or overnight until they are firm. Enjoy!
Dosage Tips and Storage
Keep in mind that edibles made with AVW will not have the same effect as ones made with fresh buds. Since we use a 10 cell ice cube tray, we try to dose our edibles around 10 mg each. Use an online calculator to determine how much infused coconut oil you want to use in each edible. Once the chocolate peanut butter cups have frozen overnight, we pop them out of the tray and store them in a freezer safe bag or container. They should last in the freezer for 3-6 months, but we usually eat them within a few weeks.
Final Thoughts
These infused chocolate peanut butter cups are one of our favorite ways to extend our cannabis harvests and save some money on edibles. They create a tasty edible that is quick and easy to make and we are able to repurpose some of our AVW. While it isn’t the most effective high, it’s a great addition to our edibles shelf and gives a nice, light high for during the day.
